"Rick's lessons are really enjoyable. He is an extremely patient teacher who teaches a broad range of guitar styles. Lately we have been playing a lot of classical duets which has been really fun and challenging, but we have also covered folk style songs, electric guitar, funk songs, pop songs amongst others. Rick can pretty much teach you whatever you want to play which is great.
I would highly recommend Rick as a teacher, whether you are a beginner or have been playing for years, your playing will definitely improve as the weeks go by"

"I had lessons with Rick for just over a year and a half when he was based down in Ipswich. I went to Rick as a complete beginner and the progress I made in the time I had lessons with him was quite remarkable. He is incredibly skilled as a guitarist and knowledgeable as a teacher. His lessons are very chilled and calm and I would highly recommend him to any player, whatever skill level. "

"Where do I start with Rick? He's definitely the best guitar teacher I've ever had. In under a year Rick had focused me in on my goals and helped me achieve them. In 6 months he had taken my playing to a good enough level to pass my Grade 8, with a merit. It wasn't only my playing that Rick improved, but he also covered the theory behind what I was playing. The lessons he gave were in a very comfortable environment and it always amazed me how much we could cover in only an hours lesson! I would recommend Rick to anyone wanting to develop any area of music: playing or theory."

"I have been to a few guitar tutors but I never made a connection with them nor did I learn anything... However meeting Rick has really been a great thing... Rick is very chilled out and his mannerisms are great... he explains guitar theory in a way that is very easy to understand and learn... One minute you might be learning scales the next minute your learning how to play chords or the next minute you might be having a jam session (Doing this is great for learning how to improvise)... and the cool thing is that you can be a beginner an intermediate or an advanced player... there is always something for everyone when your getting a lesson with Rick Holmes.... If for some reason you have not had a chance to practice... No problem... Rick gets you back on track to where you need to be... Without a doubt the best guitar tutor I have ever met..."

"Having bought 2 guitars approx 15 years ago I'd never got round to actually using them. Having no experience nor training they sat in their cases for this time. Having now found some time to start learning , with some trepidation I would add as I had no experience at all and little confidence that i had any aptitude, I contacted Rick. My experience with Rick has been great. In the 6 months or so that I have been having weekly lessons I am amazed at how far I have got in learning the new skills. I find Rick extremely knowledgeable and understanding. His lessons are very structured and focussed on the pupil and their skill level. He is extremely patient but also challenging in pushing new learning so no chance of getting bored or resting on your laurels. Rick is extremely supportive and I really enjoy the sessions and the progress I've made. I'd unreservedly recommend Rick no matter what your skill level is."
